Mitragynine
Mitragynine is the main alkaloid in kratom leaf. Leaf results are a percentage of weight, so 1.32% means 13.2 mg per gram. Tablets, gummies and shots are reported per tablet, per gummy or per mL instead, so they can't be compared with leaf on percentage.
Total alkaloids
The sum of the alkaloids the lab measured, including mitragynine, paynantheine, speciociliatine and speciogynine. Only the Murray-Brown reports give a total.
7-OH (7-hydroxymitragynine)
A minor alkaloid that the FDA says makes up less than 2% of kratom's total alkaloids in the plant. It matters because federal regulators are targeting concentrated 7-OH products: on October 14, 2026 the DEA published a notice of intent to temporarily place 7-OH and mitragynine pseudoindoxyl in Schedule I above a threshold of 1 mg per gram for solids or 1 mg per mL for liquids. For scale, 16.5 ppm is 0.0165 mg per gram.
Heavy metals
Lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury are reported in parts per million (ppm, the same as mg/kg). The FDA has warned about heavy metals in some kratom products, which is why a metals panel is worth checking. We show lead and arsenic; the PDFs list all four.
Microbes
Reports screen for bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli, plus yeast and mold. Salmonella was absent in every report. The February 2026 report for the Mocha shot lists yeast and mold at 690,000 CFU/g; open that PDF if this matters to you.
Label vs lab
Three non-leaf products list their mitragynine content, so the label can be checked against the lab. The Mocha shot measured about 4% under its label, the extract tablets about 9% over and the gummies about 17% under. Details are on our kratom shots page.
How to check your own package
- Find the lot number printed on your bottle or bag.
- Open the product page on Panacea Natural and look for the report with the same lot.
- If no report matches, ask the vendor for it before you rely on any figure here.
Panacea Natural links its leaf reports by colour, so the same green, red or white lot report appears on every product of that colour. Compare products by colour on our red, green and white vein pages, or by format on capsules and powder.
FAQ
Is Panacea Natural kratom lab tested?
Yes. Panacea Natural publishes third-party certificates of analysis from Murray-Brown Laboratories and Wonderland Labs. We found 16 distinct reports linked from its product pages: 13 for leaf kratom and 3 for its tablets, gummies and a liquid shot.
What is a kratom COA?
A certificate of analysis (COA) is a test report from a laboratory. For kratom it usually lists the alkaloid content, heavy metals and microbial screening for one lot. Check that the lot number matches your package.
How much mitragynine is in kratom powder?
In these reports, leaf kratom lots measured 0.62% to 1.55% mitragynine by weight, which is about 6.2 to 15.5 mg per gram. Other vendors' products and other lots will differ.
Does natural kratom contain 7-OH?
In trace amounts. The FDA says 7-hydroxymitragynine is a minor alkaloid making up less than 2% of the plant's total alkaloids. In these leaf reports it was either not detected, below the lab's reporting limit, or measured at 12.3 to 16.5 ppm.
Why do some reports say Not detected and others give a number?
The two labs use different methods. Murray-Brown's newer reports test 7-OH by LC-MS/MS, which can measure very small amounts; Wonderland Labs' reports use HPLC and list 7-OH as not detected.
Did any report find Salmonella?
No. Every one of the reports that screened for Salmonella listed it as absent.
Is kratom an opioid?
Not legally: kratom is not a scheduled opioid. But NIDA says its two best-known compounds, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, both activate mu-opioid receptors, and that kratom can produce opioid- and stimulant-like effects. The FDA says they bind to the same brain receptors as opioid drugs such as codeine.
Is kratom legal in the US?
Kratom is not on the federal list of controlled substances, according to NIDA, but the FDA says it is not lawfully marketed as a drug, dietary supplement or food additive, and some states, counties and cities ban it. On October 14, 2026 the DEA published a notice of intent to temporarily place 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) and mitragynine pseudoindoxyl in Schedule I above a set threshold (more than 1 mg per gram of a solid, or 1 mg per mL of a liquid). Panacea Natural does not ship to Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Vermont, Wisconsin, Sarasota County (FL), Union County (NC), Denver (CO) and San Diego (CA). Check your local laws before buying.
What side effects of kratom have been reported?
NCCIH lists mild effects such as nausea, constipation, dizziness and drowsiness, and rare but serious effects such as seizures, high blood pressure and liver problems. The FDA has not approved kratom for any use. Talk to a doctor before using it.
